New Gyros Protein Technologies Kit Boxes Launch

Embracing Sustainability: Our Journey to Eco-Friendly Packaging

On 1 January 2025, as part of the overarching Mesa Labs strategy to engage with sustainable improvement, Gyros Protein Technologies transitioned to a more sustainable solution with ready to use kits provided to the customer in environmentally friendly kit boxes. 

The Gyros Protein Technologies NEW eco-friendly kit boxes are made from recycled cardboard and can themselves also be recycled; an improvement over the previous silver plastic bags which were destined for general waste, eventually either burned or deposited in landfill depending on jurisdiction. The change to recycled and recyclable boxes amounts to approximately 40 kg CO₂ /year reduction*, equivalent to driving a car 150 km or 90 miles, while also being a step towards our goal of using materials which are part of a closed loop recycling process.

Since launching this new kit package we have received positive feedback from our customers regarding this new packaging, with one stating “I would like to praise the new packaging […] We all noticed this very positively, it is also much easier to store and since it is better for the CDs when they are stored lying down, this is now also easier”.

The new Gyros Protein Technologies kit boxes accelerate the activities in our Supply Chain Department, as the consistent size of the new kit box enables predictable shipping container sizes as well as being possible to prepare in advance of receiving orders from customers. This is estimated to save manual intervention, while reducing risks associated with filling secondary containers which can lead to breakages during transport. This sustainability achievement highlights our commitment to steadily improve our processes as we Protect The Vulnerable^®.
